Flat warts

Flat or youthful warts are viral-type skin growths, which are characterized by children and adolescents. Their appearance is due to the failure of the immune system at a young age and its inability to resist certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) virus. The disease is caused by HPV types 3, 5 and 10. Viruses of these types are quite common and are transmitted through direct contact, mainly in groups of children. The disease manifests itself only with violations of immune status, and over time, warts can disappear on their own.

Reasons

The appearance of warts is flat due to the introduction of human papillomavirus types 3, 5 and 10 into the skin. The papillomavirus enters through small cracks and crevices in the skin and infects keratinocytes. It alters the DNA of cells, and they begin to intensively produce collagen, causing the stratum coil to grow and form warts.

The virus is transmitted through direct contact with infected people, children develop primarily after contact with other children in kindergartens or at school, but adult carriers who have no signs of the disease can also be the source of the virus. Warts spread throughout the body during scratching or shaving.

Signs

When a virus is infected, flat, round or oval nodes up to 3 mm in diameter appear on the skin. Papules can merge with each other, creating polygonal eruptions. Often, at first, a mother wart forms, which is then surrounded by smaller daughters. When scratched, the papules grow linearly due to the spread of the virus along the direction of the comb. The node can be one or many - it depends on the amount of physical resistance. As for color, the formations do not represent healthy skin, but sometimes they get a yellow or brown tint.

The surface of the rash is smooth and is not accompanied by itching, pain or burning. Papules are mainly localized on the skin of the hands or face - places of first contact with a viral particle. Although they can spread to other surfaces: the forearms, the mucous membrane of the mouth, or to the red border of the lips.

Diagnostics

It is sufficient to assess and examine the specific clinical picture. Identification of the virus by using the polymerase chain reaction is rare.

With the large number of warts and the ineffectiveness of the treatment, the patient's body and immune status are fully examined. A common process usually indicates more serious health problems.

How to get rid of flat warts?

  1. Strengthen the immune system with a drug that has an anthelmintic effect.
  2. Keratolytic and antiviral agents are also used: salicylic-resorcinol ointment, oxolinic ointment, ointment or cream with interferon alpha-2, 10% silver nitrate solution. Silver nitrate is not recommended for removing flat warts on the face.
  3. In rare cases, cryotherapy and laser removal are used.

When warts appear in children, the formations are only monitored in most cases because of the high probability that they will be self-healing.

Treatment with folk remedies

There are many effective methods to treat warts with folk remedies. They are based on the use of plants and substances with keratolytic properties:

  1. Celandine. The juice from the stems of this plant helps to dissolve the top layer of warts. The nodules are lubricated with celandine juice several times a day until they are completely rehydrated.
  2. Potatoes. The gruel from the top layer of the potato (just under the skin) is placed on the wart, and covered with a bandage on top. The compression is left overnight. The procedure should be done every other day until the papules disappear.
  3. Vinegar. Once a day, table vinegar is smeared with the surface of the generated genital area until it is completely cured.
  4. Kalanchoe. Gruel from Kalanchoe leaves is placed on the papule, topped with a gauze bandage or napkin. The compression is left for several hours. The procedure must be completed daily.

Forecast and consequences

The prognosis for the appearance of young warts is favorable. The formations are not malignant and disappear rapidly with the normalization of immunity.

To avoid their appearance, you need to thoroughly wash your child's hands after visiting any public places and treat colds and other diseases that reduce immunity in time.
